For my Masters Project at UC Berkeley, I helped architect, design, code, test and deploy this home-grown web application that allows wi-fi café users to "see" who else is connected to the café's wi-fi network and share information with them. Qualitative research included surveys of wi-fi users, interviews and observations of people using our system in the café. My research partners were Sean Savage and Damon McCormick.

I led a team of interaction designers on this project to redesign a web application that allows people to edit, organize and share photos. We built an interactive HTML prototype to help the client and team visualize and feel what it would be like to go through tasks. We adopted "quick and dirty" in-house usability evaluations to help refine the prototype. We also conducted intensive usability tests using representative users to pinpoint areas of friction and identify strategies that worked well. We asked participants to take pictures of their daily lives and used their pictures for each of the tests. This personal, engaging testing experience yielded many useful insights about how people relate to their photos online.
